Product Description A delightful basket containing 12 different blocks. Children can build on the lid using the blocks or, simply push any one of three geometric shaped blocks into its correct slots. Complete with carrying handle. For Children 6 months old to 2 years old.
Editorial Review This sturdy storage bucket doubles as a shape sorter for the colorful 12 blocks inside. Simply remove the lid, dump the blocks, and put the lid back on. Toddlers can then fit the orange, green, and blue blocks through the differently shaped openings on the lid. Eventually they'll come to realize that only the yellow blocks fit through the square shape and only the green ones fit through the triangle, etc. This consistent principle helps children learn to identify and sort objects--one of the first developmental tasks of babyhood. The blocks are also designed to be easily stacked onto one another--all the better to build stable towers and structures. The clear storage bucket comes with a helpful carrying handle. --Gail Hudson

love, love, love this product! August 13, 2008 my daughter absolutely loves this product. there are so many things that chicco really thought through when designing this toy. first of all. making the sorter a bucket with a handle-- genius. she loves to pack it around the house with her. next, making the shapes also "legos"-- genius. she loves to stack them up. making the lid easy to come on and off-- awesome. she loves to get the shapes out herself. clear plastic bottom-- great. she can watch the pieces fall to the bottom. i do agree that i wish the round pieces couldn't go in the square hole but my daughter learned the appropriate way to do it after a few minutes. the colors are bold and vivid. I love this product! I borrowed it from a local "toy library" but I'm thinking about buying it.
Easy first sorter January 20, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My 12 month old son played with this toy at the local children's museum and I thought it had alot to recommend it. Though I can understand the other reviewer's concern that the round shape also fits into the square hole, I think he's over reacting just a bit.
The fact that the bucket has a handle and the lid comes on and off easily already makes it a million times better than the older fisher price shape sorter that we have - though the shapes do fit perfectly and uniquely through the FP lid, the lid is hard to get on and off the bucket and makes it very frustrating for baby to play with.
Also, the holes on the Chicco Basket are color coded to match the blocks, so there's an another learning opportunity built in as well as additional clues as to which blocks go into which hole.
Lastly, the blocks stack on the lid as well as each other and our Chicco flip n'play table so they will get played with alot more that just sorting.
Maybe not a five star rating because of the aforementioned criticism but a pretty good basic toy nonetheless.
Designed by an idiot December 25, 2006 3 out of 8 found this review helpful
I am absolutely amazed at the idiocy of the designers of this product. This product is supposed to teach children cognitive skills about shapes and colors, and how certain shapes will only fit into their corresponding "hole." But alas, the round and square shapes fit into each other's hole. What ever happened to the whole "square peg in a round hole" theory? I don't mean to be overly critical, but WTF! What's the point of having distinct holes for each shape if it doesn't even matter? This POS is going back - I refuse to pay for someone else's incompetence!
