Fun Fun Fun! August 31, 2008 My preschooler loves this game. We play it together and grandparents love playing it too! Definitely helps with motor skills. My son likes to see the bee fly once he has "popped" him up! The idea of stealing honey is so cool. Great birthday gift!
An Excellent but Flawed Game June 20, 2008 This is a fun game for children in short bursts, heck it's fun for pretty much anyone for a short session. The aim objective is simple protect your honey by using a well timed flick of your flipper. That's all there is too it. The play is competitive and fun for all parties involved. I like the game a lot. When you compare it to the other reflex oriented board games I think it is one of the very best.
It does have some problems, first of all it is a game for four players, while you can play it with two players it doesn't hold up nearly as well. Next it is possible to "cheat" if you hold your paddle in the up position you will protect your honey in most cases. A well timed hit can still score points against this strategy but once children figure this out this will quickly present itself as the best strategy and the game will become boring fast. Also the game requires batteries so you should be warned. Basically I think this game fills pretty much the same role as hungry hungry hippos only it is a far superior choice, it requires more skill, is better for children, is better for parents, and (most importantly) is quieter.
Fun game! June 5, 2008 I'm a board game enthusiast, and last night at our local game group (14 adults) Bobbin' Bumblebee came out.
The game was a blast. It was great fun being able to knock someones honeycomb off, and we all got laughs and jeers when we knocked our own honeycombs off due to overzealous 'bops'. I even knocked the thing super high - it spun around and dove bomb directly on my honeycombs!
This game is no 'hungry hippos'. It's a fun game that both kids and adults can enjoy. It's easy to learn, quick playing, and has a great theme.
Fun game for kids April 23, 2008 Bobbin' Bumblebee is very similar to Loopin' Louie. But, at least for me, it was a lot lot cheaper, and available in the U.S. My 4 1/2-year-old and 2-year-old think it's super fun and I can play it with 'em. Sometimes the honey discs don't fall even when the bee flies right into them. But y'know? That makes it a little easier for kids. Sometimes it knocks 'em down right away but often it takes a good flip of the bee so he'll knock into one harder. Anyway, this is a fun toy/game.
Fun for adults and kids alike March 4, 2008 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I own the original Loopin' Louie and love it to death. I wanted to get a back up because it gets so much use. Bobbin' Bee is a clone with some really cool updates to the production. The artwork is cute and well themed, the paddles are a nice touch, and the bee does a lot more flips when hit.
The original Louie has a little better physics going for it. In Bobbin' Bee it is extremely difficult to make a 270 degree shot to knock the person to your left out. I think taping a quarter to the weight end may help. I'll have to experiment.
This is great fun for adults as much as kids because adults are usually better at developing the feel of how hard you need to hit it to force a knock out of your opponents. At late night drink parties this is a real hit. I think one previous reviewer didn't understand that it's not so much about protecting your honeycombs as it is hitting it just right so that your opponents can't defend against a dive bomb.
To play a full game, the winner of each round pulls out a honeycomb and the winner is the person that has only one honeycomb in their rack that doesn't get knocked out. I don't think those rules were included.
All in all it's a great substitute if you can't get the original Loopin' Louie and I'm happy to own both especially at amazon's price.
