basic tournament chess setJanuary 7, 2009 This chess set is probably the least expensive set that is suitable for 'real' chess tournaments. It is essentially the same kind we used in high school chess team competition, as well as in many tournaments, so it brought back many old memories. The pieces are relatively large and and solid plastic with classic designs--much better than the dinky little hollow plastic pieces with red and black boards you find in many stores. The main drawback is the high shipping cost: I suppose it makes up for the low base cost.
