5 out of 5 stars Great Game - Even for Little Ones   December 22, 2008
Our 2 1/2 year old daughter loves this game. She's very good at it, and has won almost every time we play it. It's the perfect first board game for a child her age. She loves the books, so playing the game is easy for her - she knows all the animals from the books. Great game!! So nice to have one a child her age can actually play!

5 out of 5 stars Great game   December 1, 2008
My son got this game for his 3rd birthday. When we first started playing it he wanted to play it several times every day. 6 months later, I occasionally say, hey, do you want to play Brown Bear Brown Bear and the answer is always yes. We usually play one round the regular way and then one round of Memory. The game is perfect for playing Memory since there are 18 pairs of animal tiles. One thing I really like about this game is that my 1.5 yr. old can participate too. He has learned the meaning of taking turns so when it's "our" turn, he gets to pick a tile and he is able to place it on top of the animal in front of him if I point it out to him. The best part is that he's not disruptive since he gets to play too. We also play a slight variation on the rules. If you pick a tile that belongs in someone else's group of animals, you can put it on their animals rather than put it back in the pile. This helps your friends win too. And we play until everyone wins.

4 out of 5 stars Fun but has little pieces   November 23, 2008
This game has been great fun. The kids love the tie in with Eric Carle books. I have to watch out for the little cards so that they don't get lost.

4 out of 5 stars Great for preschoolers and offers versatile play   September 17, 2008

What I like about this game is that if your child is too young to fully understand how to play by the rules, or if they just don't want to, you can use the game pieces to play Memory. Each animal comes in a pair, so you can lay them all face down and find its match. My daughter likes to pull the pieces out of the box one at a time and place it over its picture on the board until all the pieces are gone, so it can be a solitary game as well.

It's even more fun for them when they recognize the animals from the Eric Carle books. Would make a great gift, especially when paired with one or more of the books on which this game was based.

The game pieces themselves are quite sturdy, which is nice when playing with the age group this game is intended for, but our board has a rip in it from being folded the wrong way a few times. Nothing earth shattering, but just something to note.

4 out of 5 stars Easy for little ones to play   April 14, 2008

We bought this game for our son's 4th birthday. It's a very easy game to play so he caught on very quickly. However, it's just like any other memory type game and therefore, for adults, it can tend to get boring. The kids like it though.
