5 out of 5 stars Durable, fun, imaginative   January 1, 2009
I purchased this toy for my 5 year old son. Both he and my 7 year old daughter enjoy playing with this toy. The DVD that comes with the set is very helpful when getting started as is the step-by-step manual. My kids used these to build their first sets and learn about the different blocks. Each block guides the marble in a different way so it takes a few tries to understand the concept. Neither of my children were frustrated, but instead used trial and error to build their sets. I see the toy helping with their independent problem-solving skills. We bought the "twist & rail" and the "basic rail" set at them same time so it feels like we have plenty of blocks and tracks to experiment with -- especially when both kids are playing at the same time.

4 out of 5 stars Includes some plastic   December 30, 2008
My kids (ages 2 to 5) all LOVE this toy. I like it because it's open-ended play and can be put into various configurations. It is a little delicate when it's set up. If the kids get a little rambunctious, the thing either comes tumbling down or gets thrown out of whack so that we have marbles going every which way. This hasn't happened often, though, and my 5-year-old son is already trying to plan new configurations and perusing extension sets.

My only real complaint with the Quadrilla is that I was under the impression that the set was completely constructed of wood. There are plastic rings and other bitty parts used among the wood, however, so be please be aware of this if you do not allow plastic into your home!

5 out of 5 stars Love it!   December 28, 2008
We got this for our son when he turned five and it was by far his favorite gift. The little ones definitely need an adult to help set it up and it can be knocked over requiring you to go back and fix things up again. But I don't think that's a huge issue. Plus, my son is starting to figure out how to put it back together on his own (good thinking toy!) Our son really loves playing with this and it keeps him happy for long periods. I highly recommend this toy. Can't wait to add on for even more set-up options!

4 out of 5 stars great for older kids or patient adults   December 30, 2007

I bought this for my two 3 year old grandsons. They loved the marble action but it required pretty much constant attention from their parents as the structures are unstable and easily knocked over with a resounding crash. There are many variations in building design and lots of interesting pieces but construction is somewhat complicated, often requiring checks with the included design book. This game is really for older children or for young children with very patient parents.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Learning and Imaginative tools   December 22, 2007

My brother bought this for my daughter this past Eid and she loves it. She's 4 years old and it's still a little challenging for her without my help, but my wife and I assist her and we all enjoy it together. No batteries, no toxic plastics, requires cognitive thinking, and motor skills. Your child will have fun when the structure is put together and you'll enjoy the sense of accomplishment they have when after they complete the multiple configurations possible. We plan to expand on the quadrilla once she masters the pieces that come with the basic set.
