Amazon.com Product Description With realistic truck sounds and building blocks, the 3-in-1 Ride On Dump Truck makes working fun. Toddlers will have a blast scooping up toy bricks and small toys, dumping them out of the dump bed, and driving a vehicle for the very first time. Recommended for children from one to three years old, this dump truck helps young ones transition from crawling, to walking, to riding!
Toddlers can ride the Ride-On Dump Truck when the truck bed is lifted up. View larger. View in riding mode. | | What We Think Fun Factor:
Durability: (what this means)
The Good: Fun building, dumping, and sound effects
The Bad: Truck doesn't dump on its own
In a Nutshell: Designed to work with crawling, walking, standing, or riding | At a Glance Ages: 1 to 3 years old Requires: 3 AA batteries | | | Ride, Dump, and Build with Blocks Perfectly built for little bodies, the 3-in-1 Ride-On Dump Truck is the right height for kids who still spend much of their time crawling and playing on the floor. Toddlers can easily roll the dump truck around with them as they walk or stand, supported by the ergonomic handle on the dump bed. With the truck bed up, kids can ride the truck facing forward with their hands low on the steering wheel, or with their hands higher on the dump handle. Although the truck doesn't unload on its own, the light truck bed lifts up and slides back easily. Made from tough, durable plastic with safe, rounded edges, this Caterpillar brand dump truck holds up to long days of play. Like the real thing, this truck stands out with a bright yellow and black design. The 10 included Maxi Mega Blocks attach to each other for fun building and connect to spots in the dump bed, to the left and right of the truck, and on the steering wheel. The same color as the steering wheel and its buttons, these blocks are red, black, and gray. Realistic Dump Truck Sounds As exciting as the building and dumping action are the fun sound effects the truck makes. Turning on this dump truck, kids are immediately transported to the sounds of a construction site. By pushing one of three buttons on the steering wheel, the driver hears the truck's engine starting up and blowing exhaust, the truck's horn honking, or the truck dumping. The truck creates engine sounds when pushed forward; rolled backward, it beeps to make sure no one's in the truck's blind spots. Whether or not construction sounds are a part of your daily life, the toy's realistic noises can grow a little tiresome. Thankfully, the toy doesn't have to be turned on to be played with and comes completely assembled. While this dump truck is too heavy for children to pick up, its design is compact enough for parents to move it with one hand from one room to the next, or quickly pack it in the back seat of the car. What's more, the 3-in-1 Ride-On Dump Truck is compatible with standard Maxi Bloks, allowing young ones to make even bigger and better creations.

Good toy, but some disappointments August 30, 2008 I read reviews here and elsewhere of various push/ride toys, and I liked the appearance of this truck and the fact that it had several uses. My 13-month son likes putting things into the bed, and has pushed it around a bit, but it tends to get away from him so he scurries after on his knees. Also, I hoped to use this toy outside because we have a large grassy backyard that our son likes to play in, but imagine my surprise when the back of the box says the toy is not to be used outside! Absolutely NOWHERE on this or any other site is this mentioned. I figured the main reason was because of the batteries - sun, water, and dirt all have bad effects on batteries - so I figured I'd just never put batteries in. But - the front is indeed very close to the floor, so if it doesn't roll easily over carpet, it certainly doesn't roll easily over grass. I'm a bit disgruntled now about this, given what I paid for this large toy that is perhaps too large for our small house. However, my son enjoys playing with it and the blocks and I'm sure will grow into it in the next few months and enjoy pushing and riding it around. I like the construction and that it's not a cutesy "little kid" toy. If you want an outdoor toy, however, look elsewhere.
good but not great August 26, 2008 I got this toy for my 11 months old daughter.
What I liked - stable as a walk behind toy; looks durable; fun and realistic noises; fun for a baby riding inside the dump bed and a parent pushing it.
What I did not like - it is not designed well for a ride-on toy - there are plastic black bumps where the legs are supposed to be. The front is too low so I have to lift it every time from the hardwood floor to the carpet area with my daughter on it. Steering is hard for the baby. Most of the time the dump bed needs to be constantly reajusted if it is in ride-on position and I am pushing it with my daughter riding it.
Definitely overpriced for the design and the provided functionality.
Great dump truck, poor ride-on July 24, 2008 My son received this dump truck from his grandfather for his 1st birthday, and overall he really loves it! Mommy put the blocks in the bed and he dumps/throws them out. And he absolutely loves, LOVES the soundeffect buttons on the steering wheel. Our only disappointment is that he is, at almost 15 months, too long/tall (he's approx. 32 inches) to use it as a ride-on. It's really too low to the ground for him and the wheels are a little too close together for him to be able to "push" well. He gets frustrated, and just uses his other ride-on. Overall this is a great toy with no assembly required (even better!).
great truck! June 16, 2008 my 20 month old son loves this truck! i bought it for him b/c he kept trying to sit on his small toy trucks and ride on them but would fall off b/c they were too small and not designed to be ridden on. this truck is perfect for him. and, as a mom, i am so grateful that the truck comes with volume control - off, loud, louder, and really loud. i highly recommend this truck for your kids, especially if they are super active.
Fun when it works right May 31, 2008 I bought this toy for my two year old son at a local toy store per his insistence when we went to the ride-on section to find just the right one for him. He loves the toy, and when it is functioning properly, it's really great. There are a couple of problems that continue to frustrate child and parents, however; the cargo area on the truck doesn't stay on well and continually has to be replaced by the parents, and the front of the truck is too low to the floor to give a smooth ride on carpet with a child sitting on the toy. Yes, he loves the toy; but for all the frustration, I'd probably buy a different ride-on if I had it to do over.
