bought for 16.5 month old October 13, 2008 I just wanted to say that I agree with the other users that it would be nice if it added a feature where it tells the child the numbers if they didn't get it correct or just recites them with a press of a certain button. It will give you the 911 number that is automatically plugged into the phone when you talk to the fireman that comes in when you hit a given button. He tells the child that you can get me by dialing 911. I also wanted to add that this phone is a little on the heavy side.
Grandson Loved It! June 16, 2008 My grandson always wants to play with our real cell phones so I finally saw this one and when it finally arrived he couldn't put it down. He's only 1 year old and has had 3 heart surgeries and this phone has been the best pick-him-up toy he's had. Thank You!!
Cell Phone Fun January 14, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my grandson, and the only improvement I suggest would be to make the audible sounds louder. He wasn't particularly interested in what it was telling him, and it wasn't loud enough for any of us to help him. But, he knew exactly what it was and could operate it closing and opening it.
good teaching phone December 29, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this phone for my 3 1/2 year old so he can learn our cell and home phone numbers in case of emergency. First I was considering the Learning Resources Teaching Phone, but the cell phone style and price of this phone was more appealing. The phone stores up to 3 phone numbers, which you can easily program (it gives you several choices which phone number to store it as, e.g. home phone, cell phone). In the learning mode it will then ask you "what's your cell phone number" providing the first digit and the child is supposed to enter the rest. I agree with the other reviewer that it would be nice if the phone would recite the number, or at least give hints. I think I will solve the problem by writing our phone number on a notecard for my son until he knows them better... this way he still learns how to key the numbers in. Maybe someone can help me with this, but it seems that once you programmed e.g. two phone numbers, there is no delete function to erase one of them (you can only overwrite it with a new number) - I wish I had only programmed one phone number .... would be less confusing. (Hmmm maybe reinserting the batteries might help ...I'll try that). There are some other play features like taking a picture (and it shows you a random graphic), selecting a ringtone, playing an abc game (a lowercase letter "flies" by and the child has to press the correct button before it disappears), and a "911" learning mode. Overall I think it's a good buy as it does more than other phones out there. If you are looking for a cute basic phone for your baby (6 months +) that records your voice try K's Kids Mom's on the Phone (comes in various characters).
Wish it did a little more December 26, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
My 2 year old son loves this phone because it talks to him and makes all kinds of noise. I however, wish that when you program in phone numbers that the phone would actually recite them back or teach the phone number in some way. The way it works though, is that the child has to know the phone number first and then play the little guessing game. The phone will provide the child with the first 1-2 digits of a phone number and then the child has to know the rest and enter them in. I wish that there was a button that says "Your home number is ___-____" so that it is actually teaching him the number. Instead its just another play phone that he has a bunch of already. So thats disappointing.
