Product Description A blue ribbon look at dog show participants and the pooches who love them. Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: 02/03/2004 Starring: Christopher Guest Catherine Ohara Run time: 90 minutes Rating: Pg13 Director: Christopher Guest
Amazon.com Christopher Guest, the man behind Waiting for Guffman, turns his comic eye on another little world that takes itself a bit too seriously: the world of competitive dog shows. Best in Show follows a clutch of dog owners as they prepare and preen their dogs to win a national competition. They include the yuppie pair (Parker Posey and Michael Hitchcock) who fear they've traumatized their Weimaraner by having sex in front of him; a suburban husband and wife (Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara) with a terrier and a long history of previous lovers on the wife's part; the Southern owner of a bloodhound (Guest himself) with aspirations as a ventriloquist; and many more. Following the same "mockumentary" format of Spinal Tap and Guffman, Best in Show takes in some of the dog show officials, the manager of a nearby hotel that allows dogs to stay there, and the commentators of the competition (a particularly knockout comic turn by Fred Willard as an oafish announcer). The movie manages to paint an affectionate portrait of its quirky characters without ever losing sight of the ridiculousness of their obsessive world. Almost all of the scenes were created through improvisation. While lacking the overall focus of a written script, Best in Show captures hilarious and absurd aspects of human behavior that could never be written down. The movie's success is a testament to both the talent of the actors and Guest's discerning eye. --Bret Fetzer

My favorite comedy January 2, 2009 This movie will never get old. I can watch Best In Show over and over (i have) and It kills me every time. I love every single couple. Parker Posey is hilarious in her braces and eugene levy and his two left feet. Wow. I don't want to give anything away. Just buy the movie. It's worth every penny.
Pure hilarity December 31, 2008 The few poor reviews for this movie make me wonder if they are for a different movie, or possibly the reviewers lost their senses of humor at birth. I can just see the box for this movie and the laughs will start again. If you have ever laughed at Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Fred Willard, or Christopher Guest, I don't see how this movie won't cause a few laughs. Take a few somewhat neurotic people, their babies (normal to slightly neurotic dogs) and one giant dog show, stir them all up, and trust me, it will be funny. I am seriously concerned for anyone that can't laugh at this movie. Will you be more sophisticated after watching this movie? No. Will your blood pressure be lower? Should be. Will you be glad you don't take Muzzy to dog shows? Surely. Relax, its a movie, a very funny movie!
Don't waste your money!! December 26, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This has got to be the worst movie I have ever seen. Please don't waste your money! Gave it one star only because I had to give it something in order to proceed. Need negative stars on there!
One of my favorites December 13, 2008 This movie is one of my all-time favorites. It's hilarious! Do not miss this movie. It's one you can watch again and again.
Best In Show October 9, 2008 This is the best movie ever. I have watched it over and over and over again and never get sick of it. It is so hilarious that you have to buy it because you will want to see it again and again.
