Great Book! August 30, 2010 Stefanie M. McCaffrey (Reno, NV United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My husband and I have been struggling with our night time sleep routine with our 3 year old son. I decided to purchase this book and I'm so happy we did. The author's view on no cry sleep solutions is wonderful. She gave us some great tools to help our son sleep in his own bed all night long. And her approach is non judgemental and the biggest point I liked is that every child is different and what works for one family might not work for another. And if the family is happy with the sleep situation, then who cares what everybody else thinks. Our biggest goal was to have our son start out in his bed and stay there all night. And the tools we've learned from this book have helped us achieve this goal. We're all sleeping better and that is definitely a win/win for everybody!
Good book August 17, 2010 dgal1234 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
these aren't overnight solutions, but definitely make sense. really good for anyone who doesn't want to go through the hours of crying for long periods of time.
Great support! July 18, 2010 K. J. Baker (Auckland, NZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have bought and used most of the books in this series and was not disappointed yet again. The ideas and Elizabeth's sensitive writing was great confirmation that we were normal to have a toddler still waking in the night (despite our best efforts). I found a few good ideas to add to our routines and was mainly encouraged by her writing.
If you use gentle parenting techniques when it comes to sleep routines with your child/children and want a few more ideas (or just some encouragement you're doing ok!) then this book (and the series) are worth the read.
I love having these books if for no other reason than to share with others who are struggling with the temptation to use the cry it out method.
Highly recommended by both my husband and I!
writing it down does not always help... July 12, 2010 mother of twins 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book was not helpful to me at all. The author suggests keeping "waking logs" and "bedtime logs", though she does not address how to resolve any problems. The only advice she gives is to have a consistent bedtime routine. If your toddler's sleep issues can be solved this easily, I doubt you would be buying this book in the first place...
So helpful!! June 1, 2010 N. Patton 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is WONDERFUL! Its packed full of incredibly useful information and tools to get your child to sleep independently. Since my son was a co-sleeper from day 1, it was incredibly difficult to move him to his own bed, in his own room. Following some of the tips from this book, he is now well on his way to being able to sleep alone. I strongly recommend this book. Yesteray I bought him a fish (one of the tips in the book) for his room to "keep him company at night." He did so well, and even after he woke up this morning, he wanted to stay in his bed to talk to his fish. If I had read this book before I tried moving him to his own room, I think things would have gone a lot smoother, but we are on the right track now.
